Ok here is the latest update from the guy that's leading the group...
"i usually pass Alices (the restaurant) in favor of Phils Seafood in Moss Landing ...then you also get Summit Road ..which is classic goat (real goat, not mrr) that drops you just north of ML. it's fun going back Hwy 1 through downtown SF across the GG. now after doing Mines, Hamilton, Alices, Summit, 1 ...downtown SF/GG bridge is the final azz kicker. complete satisfaction."

Yep, I'm with Mad on that one. Way more fun and a lot more bikers to meet up with at Alice's.
The first part of that trip sounds perfect, Mt Hamilton is quite the climb and great views if its not smoggy. But it looks like you have 2 rides there, the part over Hamilton then you have to cross Santa Clara valley to get to the second part.
From the bottom of the mountain in San Jose (you want to take Quincy Road - awesome views) then 280, 17, 85 south to Saratoga Ave, which links you up to Hwy 9 to Skyline, right turn to Alices.
btw, I just rode up 9 out of Saratoga yesterday, and there are now 2 stop lights with one-way traffic due to construction, each one around 3-4 minutes of stop time unless you hit it right.
